Estonia is located on the eastern side of Baltic Sea, bound by the Gulf of Finland to the north, Russia to the east, and Latvia to the south. Seized in 1721 by Peter the Great due to its strategic location, Estonia was thereafter a province of Russia. Independence from the Soviet Union was declared on August 20, 1991. Only one official seal, used for registered or insured mail, is known so far.
