Federated Malay States

The Federated Malay States, comprised of the states of Pahang, Perak, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan, were established in 1895. They were located in South East Asia on the Malay Peninsula. In 1948 the Federated Malay States and Straits Settlements were combined to become part of the Federation of Malaya. The Malay States, Sarawak, Sabah, and Singapore united in September 1963 to form the Federation of Malaysia. FMS seals are scarce on cover.
