Iran - Regular Issue Seals

Five different official seals are recorded from Iran. All are very scarce. No modern designs have been seen to date.

Inscription: Bilingual Farsi/French "ADMINISTRATION DES POSTE / DE PERSE / L'envoi étant endommgé au cours de / transport, il est fermé d'office"

Description: Registered 1939 cover from Tourane, Annam (Indochina) to Bandar Pahlavi, Iran repaired along three sides with 3 1/2 Iranian official seals. Interesting late usage of old stocks of "Persia" inscribed seals, as the name of the country was officially changed to Iran in March, 1935.
