New South Wales
New South Wales joined the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. It is a state located in the southeastern part of the continent. Two official seals, as well as one Dead Letter Office label, are known. For other later seals of NSW, see the Australia section.

Description: Official 1893 government mail from Sydney, New South Wales to Wollongong, NSW reclosed on backflap with scarce diamond shaped Sydney Dead Letter Office label. Seal inscribed "for Endorsement," implying that contents had apparently been sealed in envelope without first having been signed.
