Palestine

Palestine was divided into three areas, an Arab state, a Jewish state, and an International zone (encompassing the cities of Jerusalem & Bethlehem) during the Mandate Period (1918-1948) and British official seals were used. Four different seal types are known, two of which are tapes.

Description: Badly damaged 1938 cover from Beyrouth, Lebanon to Tel Aviv, Palestine repaired on top and right side with five British (Palestine) official seals, all tied front and back by November 2, 1938 Tel Aviv datestamps.

Description: Registered 1939 cover from New York, NY to Jerusalem, Palestine with torn upper left corner repaired with two British seals of the same type. Both seals tied by multiple strikes of Jerusalem registered cancels, dated January 18, 1940.
