Zimbabwe

Formerly known as Southern Rhodesia, Zimbabwe became independent on April 18, 1980. Three tape seals are known.

Inscription: Bilingual English/French "RHODESIA / P.T.C. / Found open or damaged / (Arrive ouvert ou avarie / and officially secured / et remis en etat)"

Control Number: None

Description: 1981 from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to Uvongo Beach, Natal extensively damaged and repaired at left with leftover Rhodesian officially sealed tape. Seal initialed and dated "23 FEB 1981".

Perforation: Imperforate

Inscription: Bilingual English/French "ZIMBABWE / P.T.C. / Found open or damaged / (Arrive ouvert ou avarie / and officially secured / et remis en etat)"

Control Number: "179" at upper right

Description: 1987 from Johannesburg, South Africa to Harare, Zimbabwe repaired with first type Zimbabwean official seal tape, which is tied on reverse by black boxed "P.T.C. / POST OFFICE / 24 JUL 1987 HARARE" datestamp.
